gardens

birds

oh yeah - this little birdie sat and posed for me - I like this guy!

got a photo of a cardinal and his mate:

this little guy was running away to hide, he didn't want his picture taken:

chickens in a tree - they're everywhere but this is the first time I've seen them in a tree

Japanese White-Eye birds are quick and will not hold still for their picture to be taken!

flowers
never seen these before

this was a very cool flowering plant - never seen one before:

 Spider plant - love these

 I heart hibiscus flowers

 pink plumerias

 gorgeous orchids

water
a palm growing over the water - just like popular pictures - however, it was not growing out over the ocean =(

beautiful view

 waterfall at Allerton Gardens

 3 waterfalls - not a great photo ;)

jonathan posing with the banyon trees that were filmed in Jurassic Park (where the dinosaur eggs were found)

10.11.12

This was the day of the weddings - lots of people will have this anniversary date - CUTE though!
A lot of beaches had couples and photographers on them today.
This is the edge of baby beach in Poipu:

red ginger:

this was a baby mini hibiscus

 Alae Ula duck is endangered:

Huge dinner plate size hibiscus - we're going to a garden tomorrow!

Spouting Horn attraction, it was neat to see the ocean being sucked in and out - but the sound of it was what was really cool:

the first sea turtle we've seen - yeah a little too far away to get a good photo . . . that and they surface for 2 seconds, gulp some air and go back under the water:

It was a beautiful day out today.  We snorkeled, laid out, hiked and visited a few beaches in Poipu.

disappointed

we actually aren't liking Kaua'i at all =(  there's a ton of red sand which stains and the beach we went to had rough sand and it wasn't the nicest of days - we didn't care for what we did see today on the east shore.  hoping we love our vacation real soon (we really would rather just be in Maui - hehe)
Opaeka'a Falls

tarzan:

beautiful flowers:

red-crested cardinals: wish I could have gotten a better picture, they were too far away for my camera =(

white hibiscus, haven't seen too much in bloom - maybe wrong time of year?

 baby gecko

baby grasshopper with insanely LONG antennas

this plant grows its edges red - super cute:

 wild orchid?

dried up toad - I told you it was a boring day and hardly anything to photograph ;)

yucky weather - go away clouds

kaua'i

Honolulu Airport:

Jonathan and I are on vacation =) it's been a rough start with having only 3 hours of sleep the night before we departed.

we're staying in a studio away from resorts, hotels, etc., first we see a gecko in our room - awwww, cute, then a cockroach - those suckers are fast and the worst part:

a cane spider . . . and I don't care if they're not likely to bite - these spiders are 3-4 inches across - HUGE!  and they move VERY quickly!!   can you imagine the sensation of it crawling on you or in your hair - chills!  it's 3:30 in the morning and I can't go back to sleep - and I won't turn off the lights now!  do you feel sorry for me yet?  =)

I thought I wanted to move to Hawaii one day . . . leaning towards Maui as I didn't see any Cane Spiders there ;)

I would have chosen this flower to die in too ;)

tiny fushias not too small even for a hummingbird?

maybe if I lean way over I won't have to move to get some lunch:

closed honeysuckle - can't get any nectar from those ones silly:

we went to Phil & Trudy's 50th wedding anniversary and this is what we brought them - prints with artistic letters

Here's a YW gift - youth themes for all the years that she was in YW 2008-2013:

Gayle and I did flowers for Emily & Joel's wedding yesterday (it was an extremely busy day and we even managed to go out to sushi dinner for our own anniversary tomorrow - yeah, we ate at 10 pm last night but the good thing was that it was 'happy hour' so we had dinner for $30!)
