Ewwww, what is it???!!!

Guesses - seaworm, centipede, millipede, etc.
We searched online and found it was a sandworm and we were sure because not much is known about them as they burst and die if they feel threatened.  Well, yes, we were poking it and at one point threw it into the ocean to see if it swam . . . but it had already burst in the gut region and wasn't going to give us any kind of show ;)

Sandworms are the creature that the movie Tremors features - graboids - my boys loved those movies - yeah, there's 4 of them.  So unfortunately I am just as familiar with these movies as Brady & Keaton.  I came across this drawing after we returned from San Juan . . . it is just so funny how related things 'pop up' after being recently exposed to similar experiences.

Keaton recognized TSA

Keaton is the president of TSA at Cedarcrest - this article was info from June but just made it to our newspaper in October:

They are working hard already for next year's state competition and then see if they will make it to Nationals again =)

Keaton's Homecoming

Keaton made a good choice by attending priesthood session and then going to the Homecoming festivities =)

TSA Nationals

Keaton went to state in Bellevue for Technology Student Association and earned 2nd place in Video Game Design and 2nd in On Demand Video (using free software even - other competing schools buy nicer, better software for the kids to use) - he'll off to Nationals June 20th in Texas!

Keaton has a skill for drawing with Blender software - Good Luck in Dallas!  =)

But the scouts did this as a group and had a blast . . . aside from freezing!

How do YOU ask someone to Homecoming?

This is how Keaton asked Olivia:

Drew this up in 1st period since they both have that class together - nice ribbon too - good thing the teacher had some ;) He cut the ribbon in half so it would fit through the holes.

The picture he drew is the cutest though:

Olivia made up this hand gesture that she calls the love gun and Keaton is posing with her trademark and pointing it at her. So funny and cute all at the same time =)

Brady did something cool too - he wrote a note asking Danee to Homecoming and rolled it up and put it in his remote control helicopter. He flew it into the gym where she was at - everyone loved it especially her!

Keaton: Mom, why don't we have any dandelions in our yard?

Me: It's a weed Keaton!

Keaton: I know, but who cares.

Me: Uhhh, I do!

Keaton: Look how awesome that yard looks (full of dandelions)

Me: That does NOT look awesome, do you realize how many more seeds each one of those are going to produce?

Keaton: I know, that's so cool - all that yellow - it's so happy!

Me: We are not having dandelions in our yard.

Keaton: Well, admit it, dandelions are your favorite weed then.

-pause-

Me: Actually, there is this cute little weed that has the tiniest little purple flower . . .

Keaton: (cutting me off) whatever.

Stopped in traffic . . .

Keaton: (looking out the window) Mom, there's a Pringles can down there (on the side of the road)

Me: Maybe you should pick it up (Keaton is a member of RAK at Cedarcrest - Random Acts of Kindness - and they pick up litter year round)

Keaton: I'm pretty sure it's empty Mom!

Me: Uhhhh, (laughing) when I have EVER asked you to pick up something to see if there's something left in it so we can eat the rest?

Keaton: (basically ignoring what I just said and still looking out the window) Oh, yeah, I'm positive there's nothing in there. No one would waste that flavor.

Who's child is this? No, Keaton did not say these phrases when he was 5 . . . it was only last week! LoL

Cheating!

So I get this progress report in the mail from Keaton's early morning seminary teacher and it's a great report except at the bottom it has what the student thinks they can improve on. Keaton's response: not cheating. His teacher's comment: what? So of course I have to ask him (and then worry if he cheats at Seminary, does he cheat in school too?) and Keaton says: yeah, they play Bingo and it's very boring so sometimes I cheat to end the game faster. LoL He doesn't want a prize, he just wants the game to end - I guess they play it too often ;)

Then we're discussing it for a 2nd time and Keaton's like 'everyone knows I pretend that I had that word in a certain place, it's more just funny than really cheating'. (Keaton needs to be the comic relief then?) Brady says: but that leads to cheating at school or work. Keaton says: (totally serious like) you know people who actually cheat on tests? Brady says: yeah, some kids do it because their parents expect them to have certain grades. Keaton says: Well, that's dumb. But it'd be pretty tough to cheat at your job.

It was funny because that's so naive, but if that's what he thinks, then let's allow him to think just that =) Where did Keaton find his friends that never even discuss cheating in school? Well, let's hope he attracts more of those kind!

Let's just say 'whew' on the cheating subject ;)

Boys in California

Brady & Keaton stayed with Grandpa Dave for 1 week in California right after school.
They boogie boarded and went to the beach almost every day.Brady strummin on a mini guitar

Grandpa's take:

The boys are having a blast. Took them to see the USS Midway down in San Diego and then out to the beach. The Midway is an aircraft carrier. They want to do more beach stuff, hahahha. Tried to get them to try surfing but looks like boogie boarding is their favorite so far. They are eating lots of junk food, sleeping and playing on computer. Kidding. We played some basketball the other night and , yes, grandpa still has it. Played horse and Brady won, but one on one I can still take em. HAhahha. Keaton is reading my first published book and I gave them copies of both books.
